Corporate Social Responsibility
Conscious of the importance of social responsibility, and its vital role in society, the Koç Group makes significant contributions to worthy organizations and projects in education, health, culture, arts and environment. We are encouraged by the fact that the investments we make in these areas help contribute to our country’s development.
In selecting corporate social responsibility initiatives, the Koç Group and its companies place absolute importance on supporting long-term and socially beneficial projects that make lasting contributions to the community and our nation. Utilising resources more effectively is not only a prudent and responsible business practice but also is the duty of every responsible citizen and corporation. Using the resources bestowed on us by the world with the utmost care reflects our respect for the planet and the environment, for humanity and future generations, and also for ourselves.
The Koç Group is committed to giving back to the community and is active in an extensive range of social responsibility projects, including: the Vehbi Koç Foundation, which has invested $800 million in Turkey’s development; the $190 million Koç University, as well as the Koç Schools, TEV (Turkish Education Foundation), TEGEV (Turkish Education Volunteers Foundation), the American Hospital and the Rahmi M. Koç Museums in Istanbul and Ankara.
As a member of the Koç Group, Divan’s corporate social responsibility philosophy is based on contributing to society and considering our growth as an integral part of the development of our society.
New Year's Giving Trees
Since 2003, Divan has helped to make hundreds of children’s dreams come true. Working in cooperation with the Open Door Society, Divan employees, customers and members of the Open Door Society contribute to the “New Year’s Giving Trees” campaign, donating clothing, toys, books and school supplies for disadvantaged children ages 7 – 12. At the end of the campaign, gifts left under the holiday trees set up at Divan locations are donated to participating schools to be distributed to needy children, helping make their New Year a little brighter and happier.
Vocational Education for a Skilled Nation
The “Program to Promote Vocational and Technical Education” launched by the Koç Group in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, makes it possible for successful but disadvantaged primary school students to attend Vocational and Technical High Schools that will prepare them for careers in the manufacturing, technology and service sectors, helping to increase the overall quality of the Turkish workforce and expand its skills base. The program provides deserving students with financial assistance, internship opportunities and, in some cases, employment. Divan, as a program participant and supporter, provides successful scholarship students with internship and employment opportunities, as well as organising social events designed to be both educational and enjoyable.
